Minimum entry requirements

  • School leavers – You will need to gain your CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting which will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of management accounting. This certificate is a standalone qualification as well as being the stepping stone to the CIMA qualification. Exams for the Certificate in Business Accounting are computer based and can be taken on demand all year round.
  • Graduate and undergraduate – You may be eligible for exemptions from some CIMA exams, depending on the degree you hold or are studying for. For more information please click here
  • CIMA Gateway routes –The gateway route is a great way to fast track onto the CIMA Professional Qualification. If you’re eligible and you successfully pass the Management case study exam you can then progress to the strategic level.

There are three possible paths within the gateway entry route:

Getting your CIMA qualification can take up to three years, depending on any exemptions. With the 2015 syllabus, the flexible on demand format of the objective based exams and four windows per year for the case study exams provides the opportunity to accelerate progression through each level.
